/ the problem
Every day, over 5 lakh scam calls reach us and more than ₹60 crore is lost to them, and because scammers change their script based on how each person replies, blocking one number or one link does little to stop them.
/ two tracks
The buildathon had two tracks. We chose Track 2.
Build an AI-powered audio call analyzer that:
- Detects spam and fraud calls in real time
- Analyses audio patterns, keywords, and behaviour
- Alerts users instantly to potential threats
Build an Agentic AI Honeypot System that
- User can hand-off the interaction to, once the scam is detected
- Keeps scammers engaged using a realistic human persona
- Extracts bank details, UPI IDs & phishing links for law enforcement
/ what we built
We built an API with FastAPI and Gemini 2.5 Flash, running on Google Cloud Run. It reads each message, decides if it's a scam, then replies as a worried person. Every reply asks a question, raises a worry and tries to draw out one more detail, while phone numbers, bank accounts, UPI IDs and links get pulled out as the conversation goes.
/ how it was judged
- 5parts scored in every conversation: spotting the scam (20 points), evidence found (30), conversation quality (30), time kept talking (10) and the report (10). A review of the code made up the last 10% of the final score.
- 94out of 100. An AI played a live scammer for up to 10 turns, and we had to get it to give up the fake bank details, UPI IDs and links it was hiding.
/ the trip
The Grand Finale was in New Delhi, during the India AI Impact Summit.
/ in the news
I also had the opportunity to share my thoughts with ETV Bharat (Delhi) during the summit. It was a great experience speaking about the event, the scale of participation, and the growing momentum of AI in India.
